MILAN - An injury-time winner from Adriano gave Inter a dramatic 3-2 victory over AC Milan in Sunday evening's 263rd derby at the Giuseppe Meazza, a result that sees the Nerazzurri leapfrog their cross-city rivals into second spot in the Serie A table.
The Brazilian striker opened and closed the scoring with his twelfth and thirteenth goals of the season as Inter recorded their first Milan derby win since March 2002.
On 24 minutes Adriano sent Dida the wrong way from the penalty spot after Nesta handled in the area, but AC Milan were back on level terms before the break when Shevchenko equalised with a 39th-minute spot kick awarded for a handball by Stankovic.
Obafemi Martins restored Inter's lead with his third Madonnina derby goal on 59 minutes, slotting home a loose ball after Dida failed to hold Adriano's powerful curling free kick. Seven minutes from time Jaap Stam rose above the Nerazzurri defence and headed Pirlo's cross into the bottom right corner to equalise before Adriano completed his brace in time added on with a headed goal from Veron's corner, sending the Inter fans into ecstasy.
