MILAN - Massimo Moratti gave a brief interview to journalists outside the Saras offices this morning:
Dr Moratti: a comment on last night's result? "The team did very well, but the result is obviously not excellent. I'm very confident because they played an excellent first half in which we should have scored more goals, but we weren't as aggressive as usual because of Cambiasso's injury, and Dacourt and Stankovic giving less than usual after the hard knocks they suffered."
Roberto Mancini said he's sure you will qualify. Do you share his confidence? "This confidence comes from the fact that he has an excellent team, and that we have traditionally done well in Valencia, and that we have faith in these players and their game."
After what you saw in the second half of last night's game, are you worried there might be a physical lapse in the return match? "I don't think it was a physical lapse. It was a miracle a couple of our players stayed on their feet after the knocks they took. It will depend on the player rotation in the coming matches ahead of the return leg."
Julio Cesar seemed a bit hesitant last night, particularly for the goal conceded from a free kick."It was a great shot. If he had saved it, it would have been a great save, but he let in a goal and it's his fault... (smiles). Julio Cesar should be judged over the whole match, which was excellent. That free kick was something special, and it's easy to blame him for it."
Will there be any disciplinary action against Adriano? Are you surprised Mancini excluded him from the game? "Not at all. Mancini chose the player he thought was in better form, who had trained better, and he did very well to."
There's disappointment at last night's draw. Inter were supposed to give a display of their greatness, like in the championship. "I don't think it's right to make this kind of comparison to try and show the championship is something to laugh about. First you collect thirty points more in the championship and then they say it's a farce. It (the Champions League) is a different type of competition. They are single matches and the result can be positive or not. The team's display was very good. We obviously all want to do very well in the Champions League, but also in the championship, and I'm pleased we're doing well in the championship."
