MILAN - Massimo Moratti was interviewed this morning on his arrival at the Saras offices:
Here's what the Inter president had to say:
Are you worried?
"More than worried, I'm disappointed. The team didn't play very well, but Napoli played very well so I think this defeat is quite normal, and right. But I wouldn't make a fuss about this after a year without defeats. It's so uncommon, it creates problems."
Perhaps you are more worried about the numerous injuries, like yesterday's one to Chivu?
"Yes. It's more this that makes us worried. We hope Chivu can make it in time for Liverpool. Unfortunately the injuries are all to players who play in the same role, so we'll have to be very careful and those who play in these upcoming matches will have to be in form."
Is it really such a difficult moment for you?
"I have seen all sorts of things written today. I hope not. We have to work hard and make sure it's not."
Were your players' minds already on Liverpool? Could this be one of the reasons that led to yesterday's defeat?
"It could be. Everyone would say no, but yes, maybe it's a bit true because the Liverpool game is a very important match. Perhaps they showed a different kind of determination in their approach to the match. They have to regain the right tension, the tension they have showed in previous matches."
Will you say anything to them ahead of these very delicate matches against Reggina and Liverpool?
"We will have to say something, and do something. But most of all we will have to stay calm if we want to recover."
You mentioned that all the injuries are to central defenders. Any regrets about not buying a new defender?
"We have seven for two positions..."
But you don't have them now they're needed.
"The problem isn't this. They are all up to the task. They just have to get used to playing matches like this. They need a while to assimilate the right mechanisms. There can be a few problems if you have to play different players in each match."
Do you think the team has assimilated the right mentality in order to overcome difficulties?
"Yes, definitely."
