MUNICH - José Mourinho is pleased with his team's performance in their pre-season win over German champions Bayern Munich.
"It was a good training session for us," he said after Inter's 1-0 win Franz Beckenbauer Cup / Pirelli Trophy victory at the Allianz Arena.
"We played against a great team who are further ahead in their preparation and who begin the Bundesliga in a few days time.
"Cambiasso played very well in defence tonight, Burdisso is also playing very well, and Toldo made three very decisive saves. The team is balanced on the pitch. The second half was better because we kept more possession. The last fifteen minutes were important to keep our lead because this will happen often during the season.
"What I liked most was the team's evolution. The team is playing better match after match. I also liked the team spirit, there was a great empathy. We have to analyse a few tactical aspects, but this is part of the team's evolution."
Inter now face Seville and Ajax in the LG Amsterdam Tournament. "We chose to play four difficult friendlies against Bayern, Seville, Ajax and Benfica and we chose them because we wanted these hard matches against important teams instead of winning four or five nil against small teams," said Mourinho.
On the recent exchanges with Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri, Mourinho explained: "It's simple. Ranieri spoke once and he was happy, then he spoke for a second time and he was happy. He spoke for a third time and he was even happier. I have only spoken once and he got a bit angry. It's 3-1 to him, but mine was a beautiful goal. No one likes losing 3-1 but it's fine like this, I accept the defeat. However, I will support Ranieri and Juve in the Champions League qualifier."
