The Cameroonian made a name for himself on loan at Mallorca where he bagged 54 goals in 133 games to earn himself a permanent move from Real Madrid to Barcelona. He quickly became a firm favourite at the Camp Nou, helping the Blaugrana win 2 UEFA Champions League titles, 3 La Liga titles, 1 Copa del Rey and 2 Spanish Super Cups over five seasons.
At international level, Samuel has netted an impressive 39 goals in 80 games for Cameroon, winning the African Cup of Nations twice and the Olympic football tournament once. A three-time African Player of the Year, he has twice been top scorer at the African Cup of Nations. He is also the competition's all time leading scorer.
