Winning debuts for Batistuta with Fiorentina and Roma

Gabriel Omar Batistuta could make his debut for the Nerazzurri this Sunday. The statistics are on his and Inter's side - Batistuta made winning starts to his stints at Fiorentina and Roma. His debut for Fiorentina was a 2-1 win against Cesena in the Coppa Italia on 28 August 1991, while his first match for the Giallorossi was a 7- 0 thrashing of Hit Gorica in the UEFA Cup on 28 September 2000. Batistuta's first goal for Roma also came in that European clash. In his long Serie A career, Batigol has scored 182 goals, a total which has earned him seventh position in the table of all time top scorers in the Italian top flight. The Lion King's first goal was Fiorentina's second in a 3-1 win at home to Genoa on 8 September 1991. Added to the 16 goals he has scored in the Serie B, the Argentine centre-forward is close the 200 mark in the Italian league.

No goal conceded by Inter at home for 305'

Inter haven't conceded goals in championship home matches for 305 minutes. The last time the Nerazzurri let in a goal at home was in the 55th minute of Inter's 2-1 defeat by Udinese. Muzzi was the goalscorer. Nothing has hit the back of the Inter net in home matches at the San Siro since the last 35 minutes of that encounter and the entire matches against Brescia, Atalanta and Modena.

El Chino ready for Empoli

Empoli are one of Alvaro Recoba's second favourite targets. Scorer of 56 goals since he came to Italy, the Uruguayan has put 4 past Empoli, a feat surpassed only against Lecce (6 goals). El Chino has also scored 4 goals against Fiorentina, Perugia, Reggina and Roma.

Inter and Empoli among top scorers in final phases of matches

After Juventus, Inter and Empoli are the two 2002/03 Serie A sides that have scored most in the last fifteen minutes of matches, injury time included. Both Cuper and Baldini's sides have scored 10 goals from the 76th to 90th minutes of matches so far this season.

January crisis month for Baldini

Empoli have been through a bad patch recently, though the Tuscans have notched 22 points so far this season - the highest ever number of points won in a Serie A season for the club. But in their last seven matches, Empoli have registered 1 win, 3 draws and 3 defeats. According to the statistics, sides coached by Baldini have lost 16 out of 35 matches played in the month of January (45.7% of the total).
