Nerazzurri aiming to reach 5th final
Inter have reached the European Cup/Champions League final on 4
occasions. They won Europe's VIP tournament in 1963/64 and
1964/65, and lost to Glasgow Celtic in 1966/67 and Ajax in
1971/72. Current Inter coach Cuper is looking to reach his third
final in three tournaments, having already done so with Valencia
in 1999/00 and 2000/01.
Nerazzurri victorious in only European Cup penalty shoot-out
Inter have played extra time and contested a penalty shoot-out on
only one occasion in European Cup/Champions League history. After
two goalless draws in the 1971/72 European Cup semi-final the
Nerazzurri beat Glasgow Celtic 5-4 after penalties.
Shevchenko danger for Inter
Since joining AC Milan, Andriy Shevchenko has scored more times
against Inter than any other club, with 9 of the Ukrainian
striker’s 88 goals coming in matches against the Nerazzurri.
Crespo chasing Boninsegna record
After breaking Mazzola's record of 7 goals for Inter in a single
edition of the European Cup/Champions League set in 1963/64,
South American striker Hernan Crespo went on to equal
Boninsegna's record of 9 goals for Inter in Europe (set in the
1969/70 Fairs/UEFA Cup). By scoring his next goal, Crespo will
become the first ever Inter player to have reached double figures
in a single edition of a European cup competition. Crespo is
currently in third place in the all time list of Nerazzurri
marksmen in Europe. First is Mazzola with 16 goals, while Jair is
in second place with 11.
Di Biagio up against favourite target
Gigi Di Biagio has scored more goals against AC Milan and his
current side Inter than any other Italian club (a total of 5
goals against both clubs). Gladiator scored 1 goal in Foggia v AC
Milan (1994/95 Serie A), 2 in Roma v AC Milan (1997/98), 1 in AC
Milan v Inter (1999/00 Serie A) and 1 in AC Milan v Inter
(2000/01 Serie A).
Maldini set to overtake Bergomi
If fielded against Inter in the return leg, AC Milan captain
Paolo Maldini will play his 45th Milan derby to overtake former
Nerazzurri defender Giuseppe Bergomi, who during his career
played 44 official matches against the Rossoneri.
100th international appearance for Costacurta
Alessandro 'Billy' Costacurta will celebrate his 100th
international appearance for AC Milan if he plays in Tuesday's
Euroderby. The veteran defender has played 73 matches in the
European Cup/Champions League, 14 in the UEFA Cup, 8 in the
European Super Cup and 4 in the Intercontinental Cup. Costacurta
made his international debut on 7 September 1988 in the
Rossoneri's 2-0 European Cup victory away to Levski Sofia.
Toldo’s Inzaghi nightmare
Francesco Toldo has let in a total of 514 goals in official
matches, Vincenzo Montella and Pippo Inzaghi being the most
prolific scorers against the current inter keeper with 10 goals
each. The AC Milan striker has scored against Toldo in: Leffe v
Ravenna (1992/93 Serie C1), twice in Atalanta v Fiorentina
(1996/97 Serie A ), Juventus v Fiorentina (1997/98 Serie A ),
Fiorentina v Juventus (1997/98 Coppa Italia), Juventus v
Fiorentina (1998/99 Serie A ), twice in Juventus v Fiorentina
(2000/01 Serie A ), Inter v AC Milan (2001/02 Serie A ) and Inter
v AC Milan (2002/03 Serie A ).
13th Italian Euroderby
Inter v AC Milan is the 13th time Italian clubs have met in
European cup competitions. The only previous European Cup/
Champions League meeting between sides from Italy was in 1985/86
when Juventus beat Verona 2-0 in Turin after being held to a
goalless draw in the first leg. In chronological order, the other

Rossoneri looking to reach 9th final
AC Milan are looking to reach their 9th European Cup/Champions
League final. The Rossoneri have won the competition on 5
occasions (1962/63, 1968/69, 1988/89,
1989/90 and 1993/94), and were beaten by Real Madrid (in 1957/58),
Olympique Marseille (1992/93) and Ajax (1994/95). Ancelotti has
never coached a team to a Champions League final, but he won the
European Cup as an AC Milan player in 1988/89 and 1989/90.
Inter never beaten by local rivals in international tourneys
Inter have played AC Milan in international competitions on 3
previous occasions. Before last week's 0-0 draw in the semi-final
first leg, the Nerazzurri registered another goalless draw with
their rivals in the Mundialito tournament for clubs on 27 June
1987, and beat the Rossoneri 3-1in the same competition on 28
June 1981.
No goal against AC Milan for 282 minutes
The last time the Nerazzurri scored against their cross-city
rivals was Vieri's 78th-minute effort in last year's Serie A
derby played away from home (3 March 2002). Considering that
Inter lost both 2002/03 championship matches 1-0 and drew last
week's semi-final first leg 0-0, 282 minutes have passed without
an Inter goal in Milan derbies.
100th Inter match for Cuper
Against AC Milan in the Champions League semi-final return leg,
Hector Cuper celebrates 100 official matches with Inter. With 66
games in the Serie A, 4 in the Coppa Italia and 29 in European cup
competitions, the Argentine coach has collected 52 victories, 26
draws and 21 defeats. His first match as Nerazzurri coach was
the 4-1 win at home to Perugia on 26 August 2001.
