Donadoni v Inter

Roberto Donadoni faces Inter for the first time in his coaching career.

Mancini v Livorno

The win away to the Tuscans earlier in the season is Inter coach Mancini's only previous match against Livorno.
Details:
2004/05 Serie A Inter-Livorno ---- 2-0

Mancini v Donadoni

As coaches, Mancini and Donadoni have never met in a competitive match.

Inter consistently on target

Inter have scored at least one goal in each of their last 9 Serie A matches (total 16 goals) and are close to equalling the run of 11 matches between Weeks 8 and 18 when they scored a total of 24 goals. The last time the Nerazzurri failed to score in a league match was last 27 February when they lost 1-0 to AC Milan.

Nerazzurri close to record

Inter have lost just two league matches in 2004/05 (at home to AC Milan and away to Messina). If the Nerazzurri remain unbeaten until the end of the season Roberto Mancini will go down in the club's history as one of three coaches to suffer the fewest number of defeats in the one-division Serie A championship. The other two are Helenio Herrera (1964/65) and Giovanni Trapattoni (1988/89). Inter won the Scudetto on both occasions.

Two historic records equalled

The draw with Lazio in Week 28 was Inter's 17th of the 2004/05 Serie A campaign. The 1-1 stalemate at the Olimpico saw the Nerazzurri equal the club's record of draws in one season (set in 1991/92), and also equalled Bologna's record of draws in one 20/21-team Serie A season (set in 1948/49).

Donadoni in May

According to the statistics, May is one of the worst months for teams coached by Roberto Donadoni, who in the fifth calendar month has recorded 1 victory, 2 draws and 5 defeats (average points per match of 0.62).

Livorno: 20 goals in 9 matches

Livorno have scored at least once in each of their last 9 Serie A matches (total 20 goals) - a record run for the Tuscans this season. The last time Donadoni's men failed to score in a league match was on 27 February when they drew 0-0 away to Bologna.

Lucarelli on course for club record

With 22 goals this season, Cristiano Lucarelli has bettered his tally of 15 for Lecce in 1999/00. He is also the most decisive player in the 2004/05 Serie as his goals have won Livorno 25 points. Lucarelli is now just two goals away from equalling Giovanni Busoni's club record of 24 goals for Livorno in the 1933/34 Serie A season.

MILAN - Inter finish the Serie A season in third position and win a place in the Champions League qualifying round thanks to a 1-0 victory over Livorno, as Sampdoria and Udinese play out a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Friuli to give the Nerazzurri an eight-point advantage with two matches to play.

Despite the slender scoreline, Roberto Mancini's side dominated their Tuscan opponents and took an early lead when Christian Vieri beat Mareggini with a low shot into the bottom right-hand corner after connecting with Julio Cruz's headed assist.

The Italian striker had a good chance to double before the break when he capitalised on a defensive error, but the Livorno keeper was quick to move off his line and block.

Cristiano Zanetti and Juan Veron were superb in midfield as the Nerazzurri enjoyed the run of play in the second half, but a more compact Livorno defence kept substitutes Martins and Adriano from inflicting further damage.

Inter are back in action this Wednesday afternoon with the Coppa Italia semi-final return leg at home to Cagliari.
