Mancini v Rossi, Mancini v Treviso

The Inter coach faces Ezio Rossi and Treviso in a competitive match for the first time.

Inter v Treviso

The Serie A 2005/06 Week 1 match at the Giuseppe Meazza is the first ever meeting between the two teams.

Rossi one of six Serie A debutant coaches

Treviso boss Ezio Rossi is one of six coaches set for their Serie A debuts this weekend. The others are Gregucci (Lecce), Pillon (ChievoVerona), Silva (Ascoli), Somma (Empoli) and Tesser (Cagliari).

No Treviso goal for 360 minutes

Treviso haven't scored in a competitive match for 360 minutes, since Reginaldo's goal in the 90th minute of Modena 1-1 Treviso on 5 June 2005. The Veneto club has failed to score in its three competitive fixtures since then, against Torino (Serie B regular season), Perugia (Serie B play-off semi-final first and second legs), and Manfredonia (2005/05 Coppa Italia).

Debut Serie A season for Treviso

Treviso will become the 62nd team to play Italian top-flight football when they make their Serie A debut this weekend. The last Serie A debutants were Siena, who in 2003/04 drew 2-2 with Perugia on day one. The previous two teams to make their debuts also made positive starts on the opening day of the season - ChievoVerona beat Fiorentina 2-0 in 2001/02 and Reggina drew 1-1 away to Juventus in 1999/00. The last time a Serie A novice was beaten on the opening day of the season was in 1993/94 when both Piacenza and Reggiana were beaten. Piacenza lost 3-0 away to Torino while Reggiana lost 2-1 to Inter in Milan. Treviso are the sixth team from Italy's Veneto region to play top-flight football after ChievoVerona, Padova, Venezia, Verona and Vicenza.

Inter always winners in August

The one-division Serie A championship kicks off in August for the ninth time. And in the eight previous August starts Inter have always won, with victories over: Atalanta (6-0 in 1961/62), Cremonese (2-1 in 1989/90), Reggiana (2-1 in 1993/94), Vicenza (1-0 in 1995/96), Brescia (2-1 in 1997/98), Verona (3-0 in 1999/00), Perugia (4-1 in 2001/02) and Modena (2-0 in 2003/04).

Inter looking for sixth clean sheet

The Nerazzurri kept clean sheets in their last five league matches last season. Rafael's 90th-minute effort in Messina 2-1 Inter on 1 May 2005 was the last time Mancini's men let in a Serie A goal.

Inter one of two omnipresent Serie A sides

Inter play in a one-division Serie A championship for the 74th time, and with Juventus are the only other team to have never been relegated. In the top flight the Nerazzurri have played 2392 matches, collecting 1153 wins, 693 draws and 546 defeats, with 3982 goals scored and 2482 let in. Inter have won eleven league titles since the Serie A became a one-division affair (in 1929/30, 1937/38, 1939/40, 1952/53, 1953/54, 1962/63, 1964/65, 1965/66, 1970/71, 1979/80 and 1988/89). Before 1929 they won two Scudettos, in 1909/10 and 1919/20.

MILAN - Inter made the best possible start to the Serie A season with a comfortable 3-0 victory over newly promoted Treviso, with Brazilian ace Adriano grabbing all three goals.

Roberto Mancini's side dominated Treviso from start to finish as the midfield line-up of Stankovic, Cambiasso, Veron and Figo, the agility of Recoba and the power of Adriano proved too much for the Veneto outfit.

Alvaro Recoba had two good chances in the opening period, crashing a diagonal shot wide before hitting the post on 20 minutes. Adriano put Inter ahead on 32 minutes with a lethal left-foot finish after meeting a long ball forward from Materazzi then entering the box from the right, taking on Lorenzi in the process.

Making his competitive debut for Inter, Luis Figo had a chance to open his scoring account on the stroke of half time but fired over after connecting with a Cambiasso cut-back.

The Emperor doubled in the 68th minute with a close-range shot past Handanovic after controlling Stankovic's ball in from the left, then completed his hat-trick eleven minutes later with a low shot to finish off a fine solo run by substitute David Pizarro.

The Nerazzurri's next competitive fixture is away to Palermo after the international break.
