MILAN - None of the players in the current Inter squad had ever scored against Livorno before Sunday afternoon's Serie A Week 7 match at the Meazza. But five now have as Materazzi, Cruz, Cambiasso, Cordoba and Recoba opened their scoring accounts against the Tuscans in a spectacular 5-0 victory which moves Inter up to second place in the table.

Inter stunned the Lucarelli-less Livorno with two quick goals early in the first half. On eleven minutes Materazzi turned in a rebound via Amelia and the post after Veron's shot was blocked, then eight minutes after Julio Cruz added the second and his fifth of the season with a close-range tap-in after some devastating wing play involving Cambiasso, Recoba and Favalli.

The Nerazzurri's task was made easier two minutes after the restart when ex-Inter defender Coco was dismissed for a last-man foul on Ze Maria. Esteban Cambiasso increased Inter's lead on 49 minutes with the goal of the afternoon - a cracking first-time shot from the edge of the box, then two minutes later Ivan Cordoba directed a Materazzi header over the line to make it 4-0.

Captain for the afternoon Alvaro Recoba completed the rout on 61 minutes. El Chino combined with Solari then surged past three opponents before sending a low left-foot shot past Amelia.

Inter play a friendly against Venezuela behind closed doors at the Meazza tomorrow afternoon before Wednesday's Champions League Matchday 3 trip to Porto.
