Mourinho and substitutions

Inter are the only 2008/09 Serie A team that has used all 108 substitutions after 36 rounds of matches.

Ibra's record-breaking season

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the most decisive player in the 2008/09 Serie A championship. His goals have earned Inter 27 of their 81 points. With 22 Serie A goals so far this season, the Swede has bettered his previous record of goals in one league season: 19 in 2004/05 (3 for Ajax and 16 for Juventus). Ibrahimovic's previous personal best in one league season was 17 goals with Inter in 2007/08. With 12 goals to his name since the turn of the new year, Zlatan is Serie A's leading scorer in 2009.

Third best Cagliari of all time

Cagliari have won 14 matches in the 2008/09 Serie A championship (10 at home and 4 away). The last time the Rossoblu bettered 14 wins was in the 1971/72 season when they won 15 games. Cagliari's best ever performance in one top-flight campaign is 17 wins in 1969/70. With 14 wins this season, Massimiliano Allegri's Cagliari have matched their tally of victories in 1968/69 and 1992/93.

Lopez chasing Albertosi tally

Diego Luis Lopez has made Cagliari history. With 175 top-flight appearances under his belt, the Uruguayan defender is the tenth most present Rossoblu player in Serie A. Lopez, who is now chasing ninth-placed Albertosi's tally of 177 Serie A appearances for Cagliari, made his debut for the Sardinian outfit in Cagliari 5-0 Sampdoria on 27 September 1998.

Cagliari's super subs

Nine of Cagliari's goals in the 2008/09 Serie A season have come from substitutes. Jeda (3 goals), Matri (3), Acquafresca (2) and Ragatzu (1) have come off the bench to net for the Rossoblu this term. The only other two teams to have scored 9 goals from subs are Lazio and Udinese.

Inter: one defeat in second half of season

Italian champions Inter have lost only one of their last 17 league matches (Napoli 1-0 Inter on 26 April 2009), winning 11 and drawing 5 of the other 16.

No Cagliari win against Inter since 1994, Nerazzurri on target in last 10 trips to Sardinia

The Rossoblu last beat Inter at home in a competitive fixture on 30 March 1994 when they won 3-2 in a UEFA Cup match. In the 12 meetings between the two teams at the Stadio Sant'Elia since that date there have been 4 draws and 8 Inter victories. The Nerazzurri have scored in all of their last ten trips to Sardinia, scoring 20 goals. Inter's last match away to Cagliari without scoring was a 0-0 draw on 28 April 1996.

CAGLIARI - Cagliari came from behind to beat Italian champions Inter 2-1 in the penultimate round of the Serie A season.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave Inter the perfect start with less than eight minutes on the clock but Andrea Cossu equalised in the 34th minute before Robert Acquafresca added a second-half winner at the Stadio Sant'Elia.

José Mourinho made a number of changes to the team that celebrated the Scudetto with a 3-0 win over Siena last weekend, with Toldo starting in goal, Santon, Burdisso and Materazzi returning in defence, Vieira back in midfield, and Jimenez in a supporting role behind front men Ibrahimovic and Cruz.

Cagliari coach Allegri also made switches to the team that lost 2-1 to Reggina in Week 36, with Pisano, Parola, Conti and Cossu all returning to the Rossoblu starting lineup.

After two early chances it was third time lucky for Ibrahimovic, who received from Jimenez and entered te area, protecting the ball from three Cagliari players before firing low under Marchetti for his 23rd Serie A goal this season.

Francesco Toldo, making his second league start between the posts this season, made a diving save from Fini's volley and then kept out a low strike from Cossu, who did better in the 34th minute when he sidestepped Burdisso in the area and slotted past the Inter number one for Cagliari's equaliser.

Jeda was twice denied by Toldo, with Vieira and Ibrahimovic going close for the champions as both teams produced chances before the break.

After a sluggish start to the second half the game sprang to life when Cristian Chivu hooked clear inside the six-yard box to thwart Conti.

The Nerazzurri then had a goal ruled out when Jimenez lifted over Marchetti and accompanied the ball over the line, only for Calvarese to blow for a non-existent foul by Cruz on Canini.

Cagliari took the lead through Acquafresca with less than twenty minutes remaining. The Inter-owned striker rose in the area and found the target with a flicked header from Biondini's inch-perfect cross from the byline.

After bringing on Balotelli for Cruz and Mancini for Jimenez, Mourinho introduced a third fresh pair of legs in the shape of Italian midfielder Francesco Bolzoni, who replaced Chivu to make his Serie A debut for the Nerazzurri and his first appearance of the season.

Bolzoni's former Inter Primavera team-mate Balotelli went closest to a late leveller for the visitors when he cut inside Biondini on the left and sent a terrific shot on to the post.

Vieira wasted a golden chance after being put through by Ibrahimovic, and Bolzoni cannoned over the bar after a clearance from a corner as Cagliari held on for their first home victory over Inter since March 1994.
