Roma looking for tenth Coppa win

Roma-Inter is the 62 Coppa Italia final. The first team to win the competition was Vado, who beat Udinese 1-0 after extra time in 1922. Sixteen times have lifted the trophy at least once: Juventus and Roma (9 times), Fiorentina (6), AC Milan, Inter, Lazio and Torino (5), Sampdoria (4), Napoli and Parma (3), Bologna (2), and Atalanta, Genoa, Vado, Venezia and Vicenza (1).

Roma-Inter most frequent final

Roma-Inter have contested the Coppa Italia final five times in the last six years, once more than Roma-Torino, who battled it out for the trophy in 1963/64 (0-0 in Rome, 0-1 to the Giallorossi in Turin), 1979/80 (3-2 penalties win for Roma at the Olimpico), 1980/81 (5-3 penalties win for Torino after two 1-1 draws) and 1992/93 (Torino 3-0 Roma in first leg, Roma 5-2 Torino in return leg).

Two trophies each in Rome

Roma and Inter have won two Coppa Italia finals in the capital. The Giallorossi beat Torino 3-2 on penalties in 1979/80 and Inter 2-1 in 2007/08. The Nerazzurri beat Novara 2-1 in 1938/39 and Napoli 2-1 in 1977/76. Inter lost 1-0 to Juventus in the 1964/65 final in Rome.

Fifteenth final for Roma, twelfth for Inter

Roma have reached the Coppa Italia final for the 15th time after appearances in 1936/37, 1940/41, 1963/64, 1979/80, 1980/81, 1983/84, 1985/86, 1990/91, 1992/93, 2002/03, 2004/05, 2005/06, 2006/07 and 2007/08. The Giallorossi lifted the trophy in 1968/69 after winning a round-robin tournament involving Cagliari, Foggia and Torino. Inter are through to their 12th final after appearances in 1938/39, 1958/59, 1964/65, 1976/77, 1977/78, 1981/82, 1999/00, 2004/05, 2005/06, 2006/07 and 2007/08.

Totti chasing Crespo record

Hernan Crespo is the all time top scorer in Coppa Italia finals with 5 goals (2 for Parma in 1998/99 and 3 for Inter in 2006/07). Roma's Francesco Totti is second with 4 goals (3 in 2002/03 and 1 in 2006/07).

Totti three away from Pruzzo record

With 17 goals in Coppa Italia games for Roma, Francesco Totti is the Giallorossi's third all time scorer in the competition along with Ruggero Rizzitelli. Totti is two goals behind second-placed Giannini and three behind Roma's all time Coppa Italia scorer Roberto Pruzzo.

De Rossi, Perrotta and goals against Inter

Daniele De Rossi and Simone Perrotta have scored more goals against Inter than any other team. Six of De Rossi's 39 goals have come in games against the Nerazzurri. He has also scored four against Julio Cesar - more than any other goalkeeper. Perrotta has scored 5 of his 52 goals in matches against Inter.

Inter on run of five consecutive Coppa wins

The Nerazzurri go into the 2009/10 Coppa Italia final after five consecutive victories against Sampdoria (1-0 in 2008/09), Livorno (1-0 at home in this season's round of 16), Juventus (2-1 at home in the quarter-finals) and Fiorentina (1-0 at home and away in the semis). Inter last notched six straight Coppa Italia victories in the period between May 2006 and January 2007.

ROME - One title down, two to go. Inter beat Roma 1-0 in a tension-filled Tim Cup final to lift the trophy for the sixth time in their history.

Diego Milito scored the solitary goal five minutes before the break as the Nerazzurri claimed their first silverware of the season with the Scudetto and Champions League still up for grabs.

Surprisingly, Roma boss Ranieri left his talismanic captain Totti on the bench, while José Mourinho made three changes to the team that beat Lazio at the weekend, bringing in Cordoba and Materazzi for Lucio and Samuel in defence, and starting Milito up front with Stankovic dropping to the bench.

Any doubts over the fitness of Sneijder were cleared when the Dutch playmaker lined up at the tip of a diamond midfield but his match lasted all of five minutes when ex-Inter defender Nicolas Burdisso set the tone for a nervous match in the fifth minute with a reckless challenge.

Inter had the best of the first-half chances and went close to an opener when Cambiasso swept wide to Eto'o and the Cameroon forward served the onrushing Maicon, who saw his angled shot is blocked by Julio Sergio.

Roma narrowly missed from a counter-attack with Julio Cesar making a brilliant tipped interception to deny Toni a tap-in from Taddei's cross.

Milito then had a goal ruled out for offside when the flag went up after he ran to meet Eto'o's through ball, but there was no disallowing his opener in the 40th minute.

Thiago Motta freed Milito with a deft touch of the ball and the Prince ran into the area before crashing a precise right-footed shot into the top left corner.

Inter survived a scare shortly after the restart when Julio Cesar spilled Totti's free kick, only for Juan to head over with the goal gaping.

At the other end Julio Sergio kept out Balotelli's snapshot and Juan made a last-gasp interception to deny Eto'o.

Roma continued to produce chances and force extra time but Julio Cesar made a spectacular punched block from Riise's bullet shot and Vucinic drove an angled shot wide when through on goal.

The Giallorossi ended the game with ten men when Totti was shown straight red card for an ugly challenge on Balotelli.
