Siena the bore-draw specialists in 2012/13, no 0-0s for Inter

Siena are one of two Serie A sides that hold the record for most goalless draws this season: four, the same number as Torino. Inter and Roma are the only two teams not to have played out a single 0-0 so far in the current campaign. The last Nerazzurri match to end scoreless was the one played away to Fiorentina on 22 April 2012 - 27 league games ago.

Rocchi gunning for 100th Serie A strike. And against Siena...

Tommaso Rocchi is one goal away from reaching a career total of 100 in Italy's top flight. Rocchi's first in Serie A came on 29 September 2002, in Perugia 1-3 Empoli. He has 17 with Empoli and 82 with Lazio. Rocchi should fancy his chances of reaching the Serie A milestone today: 12 of his 186 goals in all competitions have been against Siena, making them his favourite target.

First meeting for Iachini and Stramaccioni

Giuseppe Iachini and Andrea Stramaccioni meet in opposite dugouts for the first time today.

Iachini 1-1 Inter (x 2)

On both previous occasions when Giuseppe Iachini has faced Inter - when the coach was at the helm of Brescia in 2010/11 - the result has been a 1-1 draw.

SIENA – Inter were defeated 3-1 by Siena in the Week 23 match of 2012/13 Serie A season, played this afternoon at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

After a quarter of an hour Guarin came within a hair of finding the net with a shot from distance that Pegolo blocked for a corner. Three minutes later Rosina followed his lead but Handanovic denied him with a quality save. However, the Tuscan team was the one to open the scoring: Rubin’s run down the flank was followed by a cross that Emeghara pushed into the goal from a position that seemed suspiciously offside. Only a minute passed before Kuzmanovic’s long pass found Cassano, whose curling shot drew Inter level. But the momentum soon turned back the other way when Sestu’s stunning shot from the edge of the box put the home team back in front.

The second half began badly for the Nerazzurri when Chivu brought down Emeghara in the box on 55 minutes. The Romanian was given his marching orders before Rosina converted from the spot. Cassano hit the crossbar in the 58th minute but Inter were unable to get on the score sheet again. The match ended at 3-1, leaving the Nerazzurri with 40 points in the standings.
