INTER BEAT CAGLIARI ON PENALTIES
BOLZANO - The Nerazzurri followed up the 2-1 win against Bolzano with a 2-1 penalties victory over Cagliari to win tonight's three-team tournament at the Marco Druso Stadium in Bolzano.
Azzurri winger Mauro Esposito gave Cagliari a 4th-minute lead with a cracking diagonal strike from the right side of the area, but Inter were soon back on level terms when Uruguayan forward Alvaro Recoba found the top right corner with a spectacular curling free kick.
Antonio Langella went close to a second for the Rossoblu in the 18th minute when his curling shot from inside the box hit the left post.
The 1-1 draw in normal time forced a penalty shoot-out, won by Inter with Julio Cruz scoring after David Suazo hit the post.
