INTER HOLD SAMP TO DRAW

MILAN - Inter held Sampdoria to a 1-1 draw in their first home league match of the season, with Bonanni turning into his own net after Flachi converted a penalty kick.

Roberto Mancini made five changes to the team that lost to Sporting in midweek, handing a start to Julio Cesar in goal and recalling Zanetti and Materazzi in defence. Gonzalez replaced Figo on the wing with Crespo partnering Ibrahimovic up front in place of Adriano.

It was one-way traffic for much of the ninety, Brazilian wing-back Maicon producing Inter's first chance on goal after 18 minutes when his header from a Stankovic cross was saved by Castellazzi.

Maicon went close again four minutes later when the Samp keeper saved his follow-up after parrying an angled shot from Ibrahimovic.

Castellazzi pulled off more heroics before the break, keeping out Crespo's close-range effort from Ibra's headed assist. The Argentine was presented with another chance soon after but failed to connect with Gonzalez' pass from Ibrahimovic's splendid backheeled through ball.

Sampdoria broke the deadlock from the penalty spot on 48 minutes when Flachi blasted past Julio Cesar after being brought down by Cordoba.

From then on Inter launched an all-out assault on the Blucerchiati goal. Ibrahimovic headed a Gonzalez cross narrowly wide then flashed a low shot behind before Patrick Vieira had a volley ruled out for offside.

Inter's perseverance paid off on 80 minutes when Bonanni headed a Figo corner into his own net, and the Nerazzurri could have snatched a winner when second-half sub Adriano headed in but had his effort disallowed for pushing an opponent.
