MILAN - "We won, we're first in the table: these are the important things," said Inter's man of the moment Julio Ricardo Cruz on Inter Channel's afternoon programme Mixzone. The Argentine striker, who scored his sixth goal of the season to seal victory over Parma at the weekend, is delighted with all the messages of congratulations on his winning goal at the Tardini. And once again, he preferred to share them with his team-mates.
"It's always nice for a player to hear the compliments of the president, who I thank sincerely, but it's the whole team that should be pleased because it was the protagonist of a nice game, and a difficult and important victory," said Cruz.
At grassroots level, El Jardinero's seven-year-old son is on the road to following in his father's footsteps. Enrolled with the club's Accademia Inter affiliate, Juan Manuel Cruz plays in attack for the young Nerazzurri and is already a proven scorer. "He's starting to understand... We're pleased he's playing for Inter, who have given a lot to our family," revealed Cruz during the interview.
For Cruz, Parma was a night he won't easily forget, but the Inter number nine is already looking ahead to next Sunday's match against Reggina at the Giuseppe Meazza: "It won't be an easy game because they are doing well. Despite the penalization they have collected a lot of points, and all the teams come to Milan to face Inter and pull off a miracle. But, as always, we will give our all to win the game."
