Chivu spends calm night in hospital

Turazzi: "He's alert and well." Combi: "We're keeping him in intensive care for reasons of privacy"

VERONA - Cristian Chivu spent a calm night in intensive care in the neurosurgery ward at the Borgo Trento Hospital in Verona. He was looked after by the professional and cordial teams led by Professor Sergio Turazzi (director of neurosurgery department) and Professor Francesco Procacci (head of anaesthesia and intensive care department). Inter's chief of medical staff Franco Combi arrived at the Borgo Trento Hospital early this morning to assist Chivu in the post-surgery phase.

After visiting the Inter defender, Turazzi explained: "The patient is alert and this morning's CAT scan reconfirmed that the operation was a complete success."

Combi added: "The operation went well. Chivu is still in intensive care for reasons of privacy. The patient has been calm and serene throughout. He has been exceptional. He has remained alert, fortunately we didn't underestimate the injury and the professionalism and support of the colleagues in Verona has been exceptional. When will he be back playing? In these cases, the duty and priority of doctors is the boy's health."
