BARCELONA - Football clubs and European cities today signed a declaration to promote fair play in the cities where continental football matches are played.
The signing ceremony took place at Barcelona town hall in the presence of the Catalan city's mayor Jordi Hereu, UEFA vice president Senes Erzik, the mayors of other European cities and top representatives of the clubs that are members of the European Club Association (ECA). Representing Inter were Luis Figo and vice managing director Stefano Filucchi.
In the declaration, proposed by UEFA and the city of Barcelona, the cities and clubs expressed a shared desire to avoid, among other things, violence and anti-social behaviour during continental football matches, with a view to improving communication and the exchange of information between the organisers of matches, and to sharing experiences in the management of a high number of fans during matches.
