Chivu: "Magical to be back"

"I'm really happy for my return and the result. Thanks to all those who have helped me"

MILAN - Cristian Chivu celebrated his return from injury with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Livorno at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

"I'm tired but I'm happy," the Romanian defender told Sky Sport Italia after the game. "I'm happy with my return and the victory - it was magical to be back on the pitch. It was very important for us to win tonight after the recent results.

"I was emotional, much more than usual, but I wasn't scared. The last time I was this excited was at Euro 2000 in my first match for the national team.

"My team-mates have helped me on and off the pitch and thanks to them it has been easier. I want to thank everyone, from those who operated on me to those who have taken care of me, those who have followed me, and those who have encouraged me.

"In these last few days the boss asked me if I felt ready and I said yes, and here I am. It all went well and I'm happy."
