MILAN - Francesco Toldo spoke briefly to Inter Channel after today's presentation of the Inter for Emergency project in Goma, Congo:
Francesco Toldo, what can you tell us about the initiative unveiled today?
"This is a very important initiative involving Emergency. The funds raised from the photos taken with the European Cup will be used to build a centre for suffering children in the Democratic Republic of Congo."
How did your holidays go and what are your projects for the future?
"The holidays went well. It will be a long holiday this year because I will stop playing. This is the first time I have said it officially and I'm quite emotional because it has been my job for twenty years. However, I will continue to work at Inter and collaborate with Inter Campus to help increase the awareness of this already well-known programme."
Were you expecting to find at Inter what has become your home?
"To tell the truth, no, because I had never made plans of this kind, but once inside I realised straight away what harmony there was, and I don't think the results are a coincidence because winning everything in the last five years indicates a high-level organisation."
From playing a lot to playing less, it hasn't been easy over the last few years. Yet you have always been a person who has cemented the team.
"I think that the whole group has been fair with everybody and honest with the individuals. As a consequence the results came which have been good for the whole Inter environment. So you put personal situations to one side, in favour of the team."
Have you already organised a farewell match?
"No. I won't have one."
