Coaches meet for the first time

Andrea Stramaccioni and Rolando Maran meet for the first time. It's also the first time the current Nerazzurri coach takes on Catania. Maran has never met Inter.

Cambiasso's goals against Andujar

Esteban Cambiasso's favourite goalkeeper is Andujar, with the Argentine having scored 3 of his 44 competitive goals against him: Cuchu has scored the same number against Frey.

Inter, Catania and goal-scoring defenders

At the league's first international break, after 7 games, Inter are one of three sides to have the highest number of goals scored by defenders - 2: one from Alvaro Pereira away at Chievo Verona on 26 September and one from Walter Samuel in the derby win over AC Milan on 7 October. Catania and Sampdoria have the same number of goals from the back but statistically their defenders have made a more telling contribution with Maran and Ferrara's sides having both scored 9 goals overall thus far (22.2% from defence) while the Nerazzurri have managed 11 (18.2% from the back).

No penalties in Catania's games in 2012/13

Catania have not seen a penalty this season, neither for nor against them. They are one of two sides in Serie A with this record, the other being Palermo.

MILAN - Inter have beaten Catania 2-0 thanks to goals from Antonio Cassano and Rodrigo Palacio at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

The home side were solid in the first period and the excellent Cassano opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark, Cambiasso curling in a beautiful cross which saw Fant'Antonio sneak in round the back to head home and claim his fifth league goal of the season.

The Nerazzurri took the sting out of the contest after the break but, despite numerous chances, only secured the three points at the death. Palacio scored an absolute peach as he expertly controlled Milito's cross before drilling a left-foot volley past Andujar. That sealed the win for Inter and they move onto 18 points in the league.
