Cagliari stumped in San Siro since 1995 in Serie A

Cagliari's most recent Serie A success over Inter in Milan came on 21 May 1995, the Rossoblu coming away with a 1-2 victory thanks to Dely Valdes (43) and a Paganini own goal (56), after Ruben Sosa had put the Nerazzurri in front on 17 minutes. 12 league encounters in San Siro since then have yielded 10 Nerazzurri wins and two draws.

Inter on target in last 19 home games against Cagliari

Inter have hit the target at least once in their last 19 competitive fixtures against Cagliari, notching up 44 goals in total. The Nerazzurri have not drawn a blank against the Sardinians since 8 March 1992, a 0-0 stalemate in Serie A. Inter have found the back of the net in every game home and away in each of their last 28 meetings with the Rossoblu - 56 goals overall. The Nerazurri last failed to score in Milan or Cagliari on 28 April 1996, when honours ended even in a 0-0 draw on Sardinian soil.

Nerazzurri fair play

Inter have so far picked up fewer yellow cards than any other side in Serie A 2012/13: just 22.

Sendings off against Inter

Inter are the team that has had the most opponents sent off in the current campaign, with six opposing players seeing red. Only one Nerazzurri player has received his marching orders until now, so Inter can also boast Serie A's highest 'red card difference': +5.

Cagliari's penalty record

Cagliari have been awarded the highest number of penalties (five) in the top flight this season.

MILAN – The fans didn’t have a second to catch their breath in this afternoon’s Week 13 match of the 2012/13 Serie A season between Inter and Cagliari at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Inter started strong and Milito nearly found an early opener before Palacio’s effort hit the back of the net on the 10-minute mark after he was brilliantly picked out by Cassano. Sau equalised for the visitors on 43 minutes and then in the 2nd half, after Pinilla had hit the post, his dizzying feints got the better of Handanovic and the Nerazzurri defence to make it 1-2. On 82 minutes Stramaccioni sent on Alvarez and the Argentine repaid him by creating the play that led to Astori’s own-goal, making the score 2-2. Two minutes before full time Cagliari were reduced to 10 men (Pinilla left the pitch due to a back problem), but Inter missed out on a penalty in the 90th minute; Astori brought Ranocchia to the ground in the box – a clear foul – but Giacomelli did not whistle.

Inter remain in second place in the standings on 28 points.
