100 times in Serie A for Palacio

Should he feature today, Sebastian Rodrigo Palacio will make his 100th appearance in Serie A. His 99 previous matches have all come wearing the colours of Genoa or Inter. Palacio made his top-flight debut in Italy on 23 August 2009 in Genoa 3-2 Roma.

One win for Palermo in Milan; San Siro goal-fest in last 6 meetings

The Sicilian outfit have tasted success against the Nerazzurri in Milan just once in their history - a Coppa Italia tie on 31 August 1980, Calloni and then De Stefanis sealing the win after Muraro had temporarily levelled. Palermo have never won a league meeting away to Inter: of the 25 Serie A encounters played in Milan, there have been 17 Nerazzurri wins and 8 draws. The last 6 games in San Siro have produced a feast of goals with both sides always scoring: Inter 18 and Palermo 14.

Fair-play duel for fewest yellow cards in 2012/13 Serie A

Stramaccioni's side have picked up fewer bookings in the 2012/13 league campaign than any other Serie A team, just 26. Palermo are second in the yellow card table with 28.

Diego Alberto Milito has found the net more times against Palermo in competitive games than against any other Italian team, putting 11 goals past the Rosanero (out of 131 in total).

Last 15 minutes: Inter on fire, Palermo all at sea

The Nerazzurri have plundered 7 goals in the last quarter of an hour (76th to 90th minute including added time) in the current league campaign. Juventus have scored the same number while only AC Milan have got more (8). In that same 15-minute spell, Palermo have conceded 8 times; only Genoa have done worse, letting in 9.

Dearth of goal scorers at Palermo

Palermo are one of the Serie A sides with the fewest different goal scorers this season: just 6 players have been on the score sheet so far, the same number as for Genoa. Arevalo Rios, Brienza, Dybala, Giorgi, Ilicic and Miccoli are the only Rosanero to have hit the target.

No away wins for Palermo since April

Palermo haven't won a game on the road since 1 April, when they engineered a 3-1 victory over Bologna in Serie A. Since then, Palmermo have played away 11, managing just 4 draws and losing 7. Palermo are one of three clubs (the others are Catania and ChievoVerona) still seeking their first away win in 2012/13.

Gasperini returns

Gian Piero Gasperini is taking on Inter for the first time since being relieved of his coaching duties at Massimo Moratti's club in September 2011. Gasperini's time in charge of the Nerazzurri was a brief one (from July to September 2011) involving just 5 competitive matches: 0 wins, 1 draw and 4 defeats.

Stramaccioni's first against Palermo

Andrea Stramaccioni has yet to face Palermo in a competitive match in his coaching career.

Gasperini seeking first win

Gasperini has met Inter on 8 previous occasions but is yet to win. His record stands at 3 draws and 5 defeats.

MILAN - Inter got back on the winning path; the victory came thanks to an own-goal from Palermo, but the important thing was claiming the three points.

The first half ended scoreless and it wasn’t due to a lack of chances for the Nerazzurri. Palacio, Milito and Cambiasso all came close to finding the net, but Palermo held out well. In the second half Ranocchia, who shone brightly in this match, nearly broke the deadlock twice. Then on 74 minutes his cross was deflected by Garcia into the Rosaneri’s goal. Inter now sit with 31 points in the standings.
