Inter were victorious for the first time in the competition this season when they defeated Viktoria Plzeň 2-0 at Doosan Aréna in their last group stage match. Edin Dzeko and Denzel Dumfries netted in the win.

Barcelona suffered a first competition loss of the campaign following the 2-0 defeat on their travels in their last group stage match against Bayern München.

Barcelona and Inter are second and third in the group, respectively, level on three points. With six points, Bayern München are sitting first in the group. Viktoria Plzeň are fourth on zero points.

Barcelona won the last meeting between the clubs, coming out on top 2-1 in a Champions League group stage match at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in December 2019. Carles Pérez scored first for Barça in the 23rd minute. Ansu Fati also was on the scoresheet. Romelu Lukaku scored for the Italian side in the 44th minute.

Barcelona have got the better of Inter of late, unbeaten in their last four matches (W3 D1 L0). Inter are looking for their first win in games between the two clubs since October 2018. The Spanish side have outscored the Nerazzurri 7-3 during their unbeaten streak.
