BEIJING - After Thursday afternoon's training session at the stunning National Stadium, Inter captain Javier Zanetti took part in Inter's pre-match press conference ahead of the Italian Super Cup match against Lazio.
"We had the chance to try out the pitch in the stadium today," said the Argentine. "The ground seems to be in good condition, the stadium is very nice and it is certainly a great honour for us to play a match here, exactly a year after the Olympics and the beautiful ceremonies organised here for that event."
In Saturday's curtain raiser against the Biancocelesti, the Inter captain has only goal: "We have come here to win the Super Cup," he said. "I'm not worried about all the other things surrounding this clash. Cruz? Julio was a great player for Inter but he plays for another team now so he's free to do what he wants."
Inter will have an extra gear this season and its name is Samuel Eto'o. "He's a great champion who scored loads of goals in La Liga and the Champions League last season and he has settled down very quickly here," said Zanetti.
The captain confessed his and the team's admiration at how well they have been received in Beijing: "The Chinese public have showed us great enthusiasm for Inter's colours in these days. We are all amazed by the great love that the Chinese people have for us, especially for me, considering the chants and the banners that have been dedicated to me. We will try to make all our fans in China happy by winning the trophy for them on Saturday. I really hope the stadium will be full because it would make the party even better."
