MILAN - Julio Cesar kept out Ronaldinho's stoppage-time penalty after pulling off a series of fine saves to earn himself Sky Sport Italia's man of the match award. "It was a great performance," said the Brazilian goalkeeper after Sunday night's 2-0 derby victory. "I'm happy because today I could really give my contribution to the group against a team that is improving in the championship. Great credit to all my team-mates. It's not easy to play a whole match in ten men. They showed determination. This is a very strong group. Compliments to everybody. It was a marvellous derby."
Commenting on Gianluca Rocchi's decision to send off Wesley Sneijder after Lucio was booked for diving, Julio Cesar added: "I don't think an applause was a good enough reason to reduce a team to ten men, but perhaps it was better like this because our team showed all its character."
The derby victory sees Inter open up a nine-point lead at the top of the table, but for Julio Cesar it's too soon for Scudetto talk. "It was a great match, but there's still a long way to go," he said.
