Inter-Milan, 0-1: The Derby goes to the Rossoneri

Ibrahimovic gets the winning goal at the 5th minute of the first half, scoring from the spot

MILAN - In a fired up and totally sold out 'Meazza', the game between Inter and Milan ends 0-1, game valid for the 12th round of the Serie A TIM 2010-2011. The Derby begins with the Nerazzurri chasing the game and unfortunately it stays that way for the 90 minutes, until their defeat: at the 5th of the first half Benitez's team conceeds a penalty for a Materazzi foul on Ibrahimovic in the box: the Swede doesn't miss, the former Inter man scores and Milan take the lead. In the second half there is a better Inter but it is not enough: conviction and intensity are infrequent and therefore the Derby goes to the Rossoneri, they reach 26pts in the table, first, with Inter blocked on 20.

FIRST HALF - Against Milan, for the 275th Derby, Rafael Benitez chooses Lucio and Materazzi as centre-backs, with Cordoba and Chivu full-backs in front of Castellazzi (Julio Cesar takes his place on the bench). Diamond formation in the middle with Zanetti, Stankovic, Obi and Sneijder behind the forward pairing Milito-Eto'o.  Massimiliano Allegri leaves Pirlo and Ronaldinho on the bench, preferring Seedorf behind Ibrahimovic and Robinho.  After three minutes Milan have their first chance, with a cross from the right from Abate for Seedorf, his header ends over the crossbar. One minute later Milan are awarded a penalty, for a Materazzi foul on Ibrahimovic who ran into the box: the very Ibra takes the spot kick and sends the Rossoneri into the lead. At the 13th minute another chance for Milan, Ibrahimovic unmarked on the right crosses in the centre for Flamini who is in front of goal, Lucio cleares up. Just like a few minutes later Materazzi saves his side after Ibrahimovic put the ball in the middle for Robinho. At the 20th minute, Ibrahimovic again, with a strong shot from the right which ends up over the crossbar. Milan definately more aggressive in this first part of the game. In the 22nd minute Robinho is caught offside after an Ibrahimovic through ball. 33rd minute Chivu stops Robinho in the box after another Ibrahimovic ball. At the 35th minute Obi is forced to leave the field due to a muscle injury: Coutinho takes his place and the formation switches to a 4-2-3-1 for Inter. In the 37th minute there is the first chance for the Nerazzurri: passing move between Sneijder-Eto’o-Coutinho which ends with the right foot shot of the Brazilian going wide. In the 39th minute Tagliavento incredibly graces Gattuso after a horrible foul on Sneijder: he should have been booked and therefore sent off as that would have been his second yellow card. Inter changes formation and is undoubtedly on the up and has Chances with Sneijder, who scares Milan with a free kick, and with Cordoba who darts down the right flank, even Stankovic tries from distance. It is however not enough to get the equaliser and therefore, after tow minutes injury time, the first half between Inter and Milan ends 0-1.

SECOND HALF - The second half starts with a change for Inter - Pandev for Milito - and one for Milan: Gattuso out, Pirlo in. In the 9th minute Sneijder's shot from outside the box goes over the bar, whereas two minites later it's Abbiati's save that block a good free kick from the Dutchman. In the 15th minute Abate is booked and therefore sent off (it was his second yellow) for a spat with Pandev, who also recieved a booking. In the 18th minute Sneijder shoots with his left from 25 meters, but Abbiati manages the save. One minute later, although it is a weak effort, Pandev takes a shot. A few minutes later Materazzi is forced to leave the fieldafter clashing with Ibrahimovic: the defender is struck in the face by the strikers elbow. In the 23rd minute big chance for Milan with Seedorf's left footer going slightly wide. At the other end, Stankovic replies with a shot from 25 meters, but the ball goes over the bar. Inter is now pressing and Sneijder fires his team up with a shot that only just goes wide in the 34th minute, but it is not enough. In the 44th minute, Sneijder again from a free kick, but Abbiati reaches it. The Milan keeper is clearly on form, even in the 48th minute on a Coutnho shot. After four minutes injury time the game between Inter and Milan ends 0-1.
