APPIANO GENTILE - "I feel good and I'm enjoying the moment: we've been very successful in recent years and we want to achieve even more success. I want to be useful to this team; I feel important here and I hope to make my contribution tomorrow as well." These were the words of Inter captain Javier Zanetti, the player chosen by Leonardo to take part in the pre-match press conference on the eve of Inter v Bayern Munich, the UEFA Champions League round-of-16 first leg scheduled for tomorrow evening (20:45) at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in San Siro.
"We have 180 minutes ahead of us; that's the main difference compared to when we faced Bayern Munich in May," the Nerazzurri skipper continued. "They are a different team to the one they were then and tomorrow will be a different game, but we hope to play as well as we did then. Bayern are a top team but we have to try and control the game and get the win; we must play as a team, be compact and then hit them when we can. We have to be careful not to let them have too much space. We're ready for them and we're aware of our strength. This is the Champions League: we want to progress."
The hero who struck a double on 22 May, Diego Milito, won't be involved: "It's a shame Diego isn't available but we're sure we can still play our game and get a good result," Zanetti stressed.
"I watched AC Milan's and Roma's games; they both came up against in-form sides. Tomorrow it will be difficult for us too, but that doesn't mean there is a difference in quality between Italian football and international football. This is the Champions League, that's all," Zanetti concluded.
