Stramaccioni: "A result that hurts"

"I'm still convinced in the potential of this group; now we need to roll our sleeves up and get down to work"

LONDON - After his side's 7-1 defeat in their opening game of the NextGen Series, Andrea Stramaccioni commented on how his players fared: "In all honesty I can say that Tottenham played very well today, whereas Inter did not. Despite the result, I'm still convinced in the potential of this group. Naturally, a result like that really hurts. In the dressing rooms we looked at each other in the eyes; we were angry, disappointed and hurt, but that's football. That's sport. Congratulations to Tottenham. All we can do now is work towards fulfilling the promise that in Milan Tottenham will come up against a very different Inter side." Stramaccioni was making no excuses: "This very important game took a turn for the worse immediately, when we had a good chance but then conceded. All of a sudden it was two but there can be no excuses. We apologise to our fans because losing like that hurts."
