"Play as a team and never let your guard down"

Key aspects for the game against Roma according to Mazzarri: "Who would I want from Roma? Once I make a choice, my guys are the best in the world"

APPIANO GENTILE - Walter Mazzarri spoke on a number of subjects during today's press conference, and he was even asked who he'd want from Roma at Inter. The Nerazzurri coach had no doubts in replying: "Once I make a choice, my players are the best in the world," he smiled.

Then he continued to analyse tomorrow's match, looking at Inter's opponents: "If they don't change their system, it's similar to Catania's and Sassuolo's. As a formation I mean: a type of 4-3-3 but as we know that can be played in many different ways. But we just need to think about continuing like this, keep doing what we're doing." Mazzarri had a brief word on the best attack in the league, namely Roma's, followed by the Nerazzurri: the coach explained that having the best attack is not simply a case who picking the highest number of forwards. "Roma have the best attack but how many out and out front men do they actually play? And yet they've scored more goals than anyone else. They don't have any reference points. This is modern football, everyone must attack and everyone must defend."

The coach then sang the praises of Francesco Totti: "He's playing well, it's like he's a kid, and there's no doubt as to his class, I don't need to talk about that."

Mazzarri then discussed his thoughts on Fredy Guarin, explaining: "I'm pleased the guy's said he's not happy with what he's done because that means he always wants to do better, that he's never satisfied. He's so far wavered between the good and the not so good, he needs to have more consistent performances, he needs to always keep switched on, as I say. He's working on that. He's got important attributes, he's important to me."

"I don't know, if they all run and all do their bit defensively then anything's possible. I never have any preconceived ideas about what you can't do," said Mazzarri when asked about the feasibility of Guarin, Kovacic and Alvarez as the middle three.

What could be the key to success tomorrow night? "From our side, playing as a team, from their perspective, team play and a bit of magic. My team has shown we don't give much away and when we're on the ball we can hurt teams. This is playing well to me, but in football you can never let your guard down. This is an attractive league, I have the feeling several teams are chasing the top spots."
