Inter hit six in first pre-season friendly

INTER HIT SIX IN FIRST PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY

Ranocchia's first outing as skipper ends 6-1. Jonathan opens the scoring, Icardi and Bonazzoli each grab a brace then Juan Jesus nets a late sixth

PINZOLO – The sun shone for Inter this afternoon, making it a bright start to the new season. The result of the Nerazzurri's first friendly of 2014/15 certainly went their way, 6-1 against Trentino Team (this time last year it ended 3-0). It was also a bright start for Andrea Ranocchia - his first game since being handed the captain's armband. And it was the first time for Dodò and M'Vila in a Nerazzurri shirt. After all the hard work of the last week it was finally time to get out there and play.

Inter – who took to the pitch in white kits with numbers on the back – lined up in a 3-5-2 formation. One new feature was Jonathan as an inside midfielder ("I'm happy. I still have to learn a lot about this role. I try to do my best in the games as I do in training," he would state at the end of the match). And it was the Brazilian who scored the first goal of pre-season after a run down the right, an exchange of passes with Icardi and a crisp shot that beat Fracalossi.

On 23 minutes he once again created problems for Trentino. Icardi’s movement split the opponent in two and Jonathan attacked the space before being brought down. Penalty. Mauro Icardi stepped up to the spot but failed to convert. No problem though, as the Argentine was the quickest to react and put away the rebound. Three minutes later the Nerazzurri’s number 9 scored again, this time from a corner kick. Andreolli had the first touch before Maurito buried the chance from close range. Ten minutes before half-time it was Bonazzoli’s turn to get on the score sheet, as he took full advantage of D’Ambrosio’s selfless assist and, from inside the box, made it 4-0.

Changes were made for the second half, with Schelotto, Silvestre and Laxalt coming on for D'Ambrosio, Andreolli and Dodo. The Brazilian defender was the first to threaten in the 50th minute when his header was narrowly cleared for a corner. Five minutes later Obi moved down the left and sent in a cross that was deflected for Bonazzoli to control and tuck away with his left. On the hour mark the sun was out once again, marking the entrance of Yann M’Vila in his first appearance in the blue and black. The fans applauded as he took the place of Kuzmanovic. Also coming on were Berni, Ventre and Steffè for Carrizo, Bonazzoli and Obi.

Inter were smoothly spraying the ball around despite the normal fatigue of the early pre-season period. On 67 minutes Jonathan made way for youngster Palazzi, and seven minutes later Puscas and Sciacca came on for Icardi and Ranocchia, leaving Juan Jesus the armband. Only a great save from Rossatti kept Puscas from scoring 10 minutes from the end. Trentino Team spoiled Inter’s clean sheet when Mariotti scored after some indecision on the part of Tommaso Berni. But then Juan Jesus added a sixth for the Nerazzurri to close out the match. The sun was still out as the final whistle was blown, shining down on Walter Mazzarri, his new signings and the season to come.
