Today we remember the Emperor's devastating performance 13 years ago against Sunday's opponents

MILAN – In today’s Throwback Thursday moment, we continue the build-up to Inter v Udinese this weekend by revisiting a fixture against the Friulian side on 17 October 2004.

Brazilian striker Adriano was clearly in the mood that day, scoring two goals within the first 11 minutes. The first was a thunderbolt of a free kick from distance, while the second was even better, as he ran 60 metres with the ball, barrelling past three opponents before rifling across the keeper. The San Siro faithful were visibly stunned and collectively stood up to applaud the Emperor.

Stefano Mauro halved the deficit in the second half before Christian Vieri restored the two-goal cushion and the game ended 3-1.

Here is the line-up Roberto Mancini chose for that game: Fontana; Ze Maria, Burdisso, Materazzi, Favalli; Van der Meyde, Zanetti (c), Cambiasso, Veron; Vieri, Adriano.
