The Nerazzurri coach looks ahead to Inter's last game of the season against Gigi Delneri's side

APPIANO GENTILE – Stefano Vecchi insists Inter will be looking to sign off the season with a big performance when they host Udinese on Sunday night.

The Nerazzurri returned to winning ways with a strong showing against Lazio last weekend and the coach expects more of the same when the Friulian outfit visit the San Siro.

Vecchi also explained that he is yet to decide on his line-up for the match, with various injuries and niggles to contend with.

“I've seen lots of our players show how much they care about this club. Many have been training with the right attitude and they've shown it on matchday too. There's a sizeable group of players who are determined to end the season on a high and I think that was clear against Lazio.

“The players had different expectations for this season but they weren't able to play to their full potential. Generally speaking, they've been working pretty well. Those who played against Sassuolo and Lazio showed dedication. The very least Inter players must do is give blood, sweat and tears for the cause.”

Asked whether Rodrigo Palacio and Juan Pablo Carrizo will start the match, the coach replied: “I don't know, I have to look at things in training today. Certainly they both deserve a decent send-off from our fans because they've shown their dedication to the club in different ways. They've made a big contribution to the dressing room so it's right they should be rewarded.

“We want to win our last game and my plan is to go with our strongest line-up. Carrizo and Palacio will obviously get a look-in.

“As for Gabigol and Joao Mario, we'll see how training goes later today. Their behaviour was wrong and the club took measures which I agreed with.

“Nagatomo? In terms of his commitment and professionalism, he's never found wanting but he can't play all the time because there's competition for places. He works hard, though. I think he's a player Inter can rely on but he'll have to fight for his place with others.

"Rarely have we had so many doubts over our starting line-up as on this occasion.

"Mauro Icardi has been training on his own. It's not a serious problem and he wanted to return for tomorrow but there's no point risking him.

“Pinamonti? I planned to bring him on if Eder wasn't able to last the whole game. If I can play him, I will but it depends on the match.

“I hope Medel is fit in time. Murillo isn't 100%. Miranda had recovered but now he's got another problem and it's not worth forcing anything at this stage.”
