MILAN – It was a great performance by Joao Mario, who picked up an assist and scored the fourth goal in the match against Genoa: "It’s important that I’ve found the back of the net again, I’d like to thank the fans for the faith they’ve shown in me this week," the Portuguese midfielder said to Inter TV.

"We played really well, I’m so happy to have scored again at San Siro. Second place in the league? Let’s take it game by game. On Tuesday we have another one in a different competition and we have to give our all.

"It was important for me to carry on from where I left off after the game at the Stadio Olimpico. I was looking for an opportunity. The squad is playing well and they’ve helped me a lot, I’m happy to have made a contribution. We are an excellent team and are capable of finding many solutions. We are managing to stick together as a team even when a few new players come into the side."
