Materazzi: "What an honour to represent Inter's colours"

MILAN - "To wear the Inter shirt means you’re representing special colours. You become at one with the values of the Club." Marco Materazzi spoke with pride to Inter TV at the event to present the commemorative shirt for 20 years of the partnership between Inter and Nike. "It’s hard to pick the best one. Obviously, the one from the Treble-winning season is memorable, as was the one the next year with all the patches marking those wins. But in my heart, it's always the Nerazzurri’s first Nike kit, the one with Ronaldo who I think was the best player to ever wear these colours."

The former defender further elaborated on what it means to wear the Inter shirt. "When you go onto the pitch in an Inter shirt, you come up against an opponent who will give three times their usual effort to try and beat you. This is something to be proud of. However, Interisti have this innate ability to suffer in order to achieve victory."

"During the season, there are difficult and less difficult moments. But, there are lots of people here with spirit and the desire to show that they’re worthy of Inter. We can also focus on the things that are set in stone, we’ve always been one of the best teams in Italy and in Europe, one of the very few to have won a Treble. To think about that gives you the energy to get back to those heights."
