Armando Madonna's Nerazzurri began their European campaign with a win. A brace from Sebastiano Esposito and goals from Oristanio and Vergani

SESTO SAN GIOVANNI - Inter Primavera’s adventure in the UEFA Youth League began in the best possible fashion. Armando Madonna’s side produced an excellent and solid display to come away with three very important points, with Sebastiano Esposito’s brace and goals from Oristanio and Vergani sealing the win.

After an intense first 20 minutes, Inter had a number of chances to break the deadlock. Esposito came close from a dead ball situation before Lorenzo Pirola tried to catch substitute goalkeeper Sirotnik off guard without success. The Nerazzurri then took the lead with 30 minutes on the clock through Sebastiano Esposito: surrounded by two defenders, Inter’s number ten received the ball in the box before firing home between the goalkeeper’s legs. Inter didn’t rest on their laurels and came close to doubling their advantage through Gianelli, but the away goalkeeper produced a fantastic save.

Inter did however double their lead early in the second half, with Esposito at it again in the 58th minute: the number ten made no mistake from the spot after a penalty had been awarded for a foul on Vergani. A chance to make it three came in the 69th minute, but Schirò’s effort was kept out by Surovcik. Shortly afterwards, Cerv had an opportunity to cut the deficit but fired his shot over the bar. Inter took advantage of this let-off and Oristanio shot from distance, catching the opposition goalkeeper off guard with a thunderous strike to make it 3-0. Fonseca then hit the post twice in the closing minutes, before the match was rounded off by Vergani in the 91st minute with another penalty to make it four. A big win and three important points for the Nerazzurri.
