The Nerazzurri man played a key role in Inter's #DerbyMilano win
MILAN – It was another selfless performance from Danilo D’Ambrosio, who was unlucky not to score when he hit the post from close range and saw an incredible bicycle kick saved. After the match, he spoke to Inter TV: “How did I not manage to score? I always want to do the maximum I can. If I had to nitpick I’d say that I was perhaps already convinced I’d scored, and this was a mistake. Luckily it didn’t matter in the end. Playing out wide as part of a midfield five makes it easier to create goalscoring opportunities compared to playing as a full-back in defence. For me, it doesn’t make a lot of difference. The dynamics change but the intensity always needs to be very high to win.
“This squad was built to cause the top teams who have done better than us in recent years problems. The race has begun, we’re top but it’s only September. Having a coach like Conte raises the bar but also the expectations. A draw is like a defeat for us. The dynamics to our game are different to Milan’s, but we still need to improve a lot and haven’t reached 100% yet. With sacrifice and the desire to improve we’ll certainly make strides forward.”
