MILAN – Back on 22 September 2013, Inter and Sassuolo faced off in the lunchtime kick-off in a match that was full of drama and goals. In the first Serie A TIM match between the Nerazzurri and Emilian side, seven was the key number at the Mapei Stadium. Seven was the number of months Diego Milito had spent out after getting injured against Cluj, it was the number of goals scored by Inter and it took the Nerazzurri seven minutes to take the lead.

Rodrigo Palacio opened the scoring and was involved in the second Inter goal after Pomini saved his shot only for Taider to tap in on the rebound. It was his first goal for the Nerazzurri and he’d also play a big part in the Pucino own goal.

In the second half, there was another Palacio shot, another rebound and another goal which was scored by Alvarez this time before the most emotional moment of the match. Palacio was even involved with this when he went off in the 54th minute, embracing Diego Milito as he stepped onto the pitch for the first time after being out for seven months. Not even ten minutes went by before the next goal with Milito himself making it five before setting Cambiasso up to make it 0-6. Milito then got his second and Inter’s seventh and the goalscoring stopped there.
