VIDEO - We've selected the best assists provided by Nerazzurri players during the 2019/20 campaign

MILAN – There are those who say that it brings them more satisfaction to provide an assist than score a goal. However, there are no preferences out on the pitch: whether you find the net or set up a teammate, both contribute to the common good: the team. So far this campaign, Inter have scored a total of 69 goals in all competitions (49 in Serie A, ten in the Champions League, four in the Europa League and six in the Coppa Italia). Now, we’ve selected the Nerazzurri’s 20 best assists that made these goals possible.

According to Opta data, Nerazzurri players have directly set up their teammates to score on 39 occasions up to this point. Leading the assist rankings are Antonio Candreva and Marcelo Brozovic, both of whom have provided six (five in Serie A and one in the Champions League). Two players who, despite playing in different positions and having different jobs, know how to precisely pick out their fellow Inter players: Candreva with his crosses from the right flank and Brozovic with his threaded balls through, like the magnificent pass he produced which allowed Gagliardini to score against Sampdoria in Genoa.

Behind Candreva and Brozovic in the list is Romelu Lukaku: the Belgian has five assists to his name, the best of which was his ball into the box with the outside of his boot which was met by Lautaro on the volley against Slavia Prague in the Champions League. Stefan de Vrij, meanwhile, has set up four goals. The Dutchman is excellent at building play from the back and particularly adept at finding the strikers from deep, with Lautaro and Lukaku having benefitted from this on more than one occasion. Biraghi and Barella also have four assists so far this campaign.

Also on the list of players who have provided at least one assist this season are Sensi, Vecino and Young, all of whom have provided two, and Lazaro, Moses, Eriksen and Lautaro, who have one assist to their names.
