MILAN – Inter are gearing up for their penultimate away match of the season, scheduled to kick off at 19:30 CEST on 25 July at the Stadio Ferraris, in what will be matchday 36 of the Serie A season. In the reverse fixture, Antonio Conte's side scored four for the second time of the season, thanks to a brace from Lukaku, a goal from Gagliardini, and Esposito's first in Serie A.

PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS BETWEEN GENOA AND INTER

Inter and Genoa have faced one another 105 times in their history. The Nerazzurri have won 54, while the Rossoblù have won 22, and the remaining 29 meetings finished level. The most frequent scoreline in matches between the two sides in Serie A is 1-0 to the Nerazzurri, a scoreline we have seen on 12 occasions, the last being in September 2017, when Danilo D'Ambrosio scored the winner for the Nerazzurri.

The two sides have not drawn in Serie A since May 2013, when it ended goalless at the Ferraris. Since then, the Ligurian side have won five and the Nerazzurri have won eight, with the combined scoreline in the last three Inter victories amounting to 13-0. the last time that Inter won four in a row in the league against the Rossoblù was in 2012.

FORM AND STATISTICS

Inter lead Serie A for their points haul in away matches this season, with a total of 37, coming off eleven wins, four draws and two losses. The Nerazzurri could win 12 away matches in a single Serie A season for the second time in their history, after 2006/07, when they won 15.

For Genoa, who have won their last two home matches in the league, even a third win on the bounce would not be enough to guarantee their safety in Serie A: they also have to hope that Lecce don't win their match.

Conte's side have scored 18 headed goals in Serie A this season – not only do the Nerazzurri have the best record in Europe's Top Five Leagues, but they have not done better since Opta started measuring this statistic. Inter is also the team with the highest shot accuracy in the league (51%).

Genoa, on the other hand, have scored just twice from corners this season, which is less than any other side.

PLAYER FOCUS

Romelu Lukaku, who has scored 21 goals this season, is just a goal away from equalling Diego Milito and Amedeo with the third-highest goal tally in a debut Serie A season at Inter. Only Stefano Nyers (26) and Ronaldo (25) have done better. The Belgian striker contributed to three goals in the reverse fixture against Genoa, with two goals and one assist, in his most productive match of the season.

Alexis Sánchez has provided more assist in 19 Serie A appearances in with Inter than he did in 32 with Manchester United (six). The Chilean has not done better in a single season  since 2016/17 when he was at Arsenal.

Roberto Gagliardini played his first Serie A match in May 2016 against Genoa. He has not scored more against any other side in the Italian top flight, with five goals and an assist in seven matches.

Among the old flames of the fixture is Andrea Ranocchia who played 16 matches with Genoa in Serie between August and December 2010, before joining Inter. There are also two ex-Inter men in the Genoa squad, Goran Pandev and Andrea Pinamonti.

Domenico Criscito just scored his eighth penalty of the season, making him the defender who has scored the most goals form the spot in a single season in any of Europe's Top Five Leagues in the time that Opta have kept a record of this data (since 2006/07).

COACHES

Antonio Conte is unbeaten as a Coach against Genoa in Serie A: in seven matches against Il Grifone he has won four and drawn three.

Davide Nicola has faced Inter five times as a Coach in Serie A, winning one and losing four.
