02/03/1980 AC Milan 0-1 Inter, Oriali – Il tempo se ne va (Adriano Celentano)

“HISTORY”: 41 years ago, on the 22nd of the league, Inter won their second Derby of the season after Beccalossi sealed the win in the reverse fixture. Lele Oriali scored after a free-kick swung in by Altobelli.

25/10/1981 AC Milan 0-1 Inter, Oriali – Start me up (Rolling Stones)

“A REAL STRIKER’S GOAL”: scored by... Lele Oriali. This feat of technical brilliance won the game and all three points. Prohaska crossed from the half space in towards the back post and found the number 4. Trapped with his left, shot with the outside of his right boot. Milan was Black and Blue.

11/12/1988 AC Milan 0-1 Inter, Serena – Liberi Liberi (Vasco Rossi)

“WE’VE DONE IT, GAFFER”: is the phrase that Walter Zenga whisered into Trapattoni’s ear after the full-time whistle. The voices that told the story of this Derby were the Human Spider, who made many spectacular stops, Trapattoni and Aldo Serena, who scored from Bergomi’s cross to win the game for Inter.

18/03/1990 AC Milan 1-3 Inter, Serena, Matthäus (pen), Costacurta, Serena – Balliamo sul mondo (Ligabue)

“WE NEED TO WIN”: interviewed before kick-off, Lothar Matthäus summed up in four words the feeling ahead of the 151st competitive fixture between Inter and AC Milan in 1989/90. It was a premise but also a promise that the Nerazzurri kept from the third minute with Serena’s headed opener. Then, the German – who became a world champion just months later - scored from the spot and Serena grabbed a third after Costacurta had got one back. One day after his birthday, the Nerazzurri presented Trapattoni with a Derby win.

18/11/1990 AC Milan 0-1 Inter, Berti – Punk (prima di te) (Enrico Ruggeri)

“FIVE MINUTES FROM THE END”: it was a ‘world’ Derby at San Siro: Trapattoni against Sacchi, Matthäus against Rijkaard, Klinsmaan against van Basten. Then, there’s Berti, the perennial man for the Derby, who scored the only goal of the game just five minutes from full time.

22/03/1998 AC Milan 0-3 Inter, Simeone, Ronaldo, Simeone – Everybody (Backstreet Boys)

“CHOLO’S GRIT, RONALDO’S CLASS”: One of the most iconic Derbies of the last 25 years: Simoni against Capello, Ronaldo against Weah and a game dominated by character and personality. Cholo Simeone’s grit was the key to this local rivalry because the Argentine himself opened the scoring and closed out the game. The first was a header from Djorkaeff’s corner, and then he beat Rossi and hit the back of the net. In between the battles, the sheer class of Ronaldo shone through as he scored with a delightful dink.

03/03/2002 AC Milan 0-1 Inter, Vieri – In the end (Linkin Park)

“V I E R I”: On 3 March 2002, the absolute key figure of the #DerbyMilano was Christian Vieri, who got in ahead of the defenders and scored off his knee. It was a first league goal against the Rossoneri and first Derby win in the era of Argentine coach Hector Cúper.
