Inter Stats | Sanchez follows in the footsteps of Zamorano and Handanovic moves into the top ten

Inter picked up their sixth consecutive league victory yesterday evening, beating Parma 2-1 away from home. The Nerazzurri now sit on 59 points in the league, six ahead of second-place AC Milan. For the fourth time in the three-points-per-win era, Inter have collected at least 59 points from their opening 25 matches of a single Serie A campaign after previously achieving this in 2006/07, 2007/08 and 2008/09. Conte’s men continue to lead the way when it comes to goals scored: 62, two more than Atalanta (60). In order to find a more prolific Nerazzurri side at the same stage of a Serie A campaign, you’d have to go back to 1950/51. That season, Inter had scored 70 goals after 25 matchdays.

ALEXIS FOLLOWING IN ZAMORANO'S FOOTSTEPS

Yesterday evening, Alexis Sanchez bagged his first Nerazzurri brace. The Chilean has now scored 29 goals in his top-flight career in Italy: 20 for Udinese and nine for Inter. Previously, the only other time that Alexis had found the net on more than one occasion in a single Serie A match was in Udinese’s 7-0 away victory over Palermo in 2011 (the Chilean bagged four).

Sanchez has scored five times so far this campaign, more than his four-goal haul in Serie A last season.

Before Alexis Sanchez, the last Chilean player to score more than one goal for Inter in a single Serie A match was Iván Zamorano, who did so in September 1999 against Parma.

HANDANOVIC MOVES INTO THE TOP TEN. 100 WINS FOR PERISIC

At the Tardini, Handanovic was beaten for the first time in 280 minutes, but the Nerazzurri goalkeeper was able to celebrate regardless, particularly because he achieved a prestigious milestone yesterday evening. Against Parma, the Slovenian shot-stopper made his 317th Inter appearance in Italy’s top division. He’s now moved level with Alessandro Altobelli in tenth in the all-time Inter Serie A appearance ranking.
