Inter Stats | 9 wins on the spin and 20 goals for Lukaku

Inter’s 1-0 win in Bologna extended their run of consecutive victories to nine. These three points take the Nerazzurri to a total of 68, eight clear of second place with a game in hand – on Wednesday at San Siro against Sassuolo. Inter will be without Bastoni and Brozovic for that game, who both picked up a fifth booking of the season at the Dall’Ara last night.

Inter’s run of consecutive victories began on 30 January with the win against Benevento. Since then, the Nerazzurri have beaten Juventus, Fiorentina, Lazio, Milan, Genoa, Parma, Atalanta, Torino and Bologna. That’s nine wins from nine in the second half of the season; the Nerazzurri are just the third team in Serie A history to start the girone di ritorno with nine wins in a row.

Inter hadn’t won nine consecutive league games since 2007, when they set a Serie A records with 17 wins on the bounce.

AWAY DAYS AND… BOLOGNA

The trip to the Dall’ara ended with Inter’s fifth consecutive away win: this is for the first time since November 2019, when Conte’s side were victorious in seven away games in a row.

Inter certainly have a good record against Bologna. The Nerazzurri have won 72 games in Serie A against the Rossoblù, more than against any other side in the competition. Furthermore, Bologna were held goalless at home for just the second time this season, after the 1-0 defeat to Napoli in November.

LUKAKU-20, SECOND CONSECUTIVE SEASON

Lukaku’s winner in Bologna was the Belgian’s 20th goal in the league this season (26 in all comps). Rom became just the seventh player in Inter history to score at least 20 goals in Serie A in two consecutive seasons with Inter. Before Lukaku, the players to achieve this feat were Meazza, Amadei, Boninsegna, Icardi, Nyers and Vieri.

Fun fact: Lukaku has scored with his right foot for four of his last seven goals. He had only scored four times with his right for his previous 32 in an Inter shirt.

Bologna a preferred victim: Lukaku has scored five times against Bologna in Serie A, he only has more against Genoa (six).
