The Azzurri beat Spain on penalties to set up a Wembley date against England or Denmark

Italy are through to the final of Euro 2020 after overcoming Spain in a shootout.

It took the Azzurri 120 minutes and nine penalties to get the better of La Roja. Federico Chiesa fired Roberto Mancini's side in front after an hour of play but Alvaro Morata then levelled the scores with ten minutes of regular time remaining.

Neither side was able to break the deadlock in extra time so it went to a shootout.

Manuel Locatelli missed Italy's opening spot kick but Andrea Belotti, Leonardo Bonucci, Federico Bernardeschi and Jorginho converted theirs while Dani Olmo and Morata missed for Spain.

Nicolo Barella played 85 minutes of the game and Alessandro Bastoni was not used.

Italy will now face England or Denmark in Sunday's final at Wembley Stadium (21:00 CEST).
