Nerazzurri CEO Sport speaks on RAI Radio 1 programme Zona Cesarini

MILAN – Giuseppe Marotta spoke to RAI Radio 1 show Zona Cesarini on Monday about the latest international break and the summer transfer window, including new signing Joaquin Correa.

This is what the Inter CEO Sport had to say:

A lot of players are going away with their international teams and won't return until just before the next league match – a big problem for Inter and other clubs. "I want to thank [FIGC president Gabriele] Gravina and [Lega Serie A president Paolo] Dal Pino for the importance they're placed on this key issue. Let's not forget that clubs should always be central. Having to play a league game and our opening Champions League fixture with players in less-than-perfect condition is a high price for clubs to pay."

This summer has seen some big names like Romelu Lukaku and Cristiano Ronaldo leave Italy to go abroad while a number of top coaches such as like Jose Mourinho have returned. What will Serie A be like this year? “The starting grid looks very much unchanged. Serie A has lost some great players but the pool of coaching talent has grown, with the likes of Mourinho creating interest. I'm sure Serie A will pick itself back up again after a long period of economic crisis that has affected clubs' finances and transfer business.”

It's a difficult time for football on a global level.  “It's a difficult transfer window and the difficulties Inter are facing at the moment are the same as those faced by many other clubs. You need to be creative to make up for the lack of spending that was par for the course before the pandemic.”

Joaquin Correa and Lautaro Martinez look like a good partnership... “Yes, they're a good partnership and we're very happy about that.”
