Pre-match facts and figures to get you stat-loaded for our game against AC Milan

MILAN – It's nearly derby time! The Milan derby is back on Sunday, with kick-off at the Meazza set for 20:45 CET.

Simone Inzaghi's side head into the game on the back of wins over Udinese and Sheriff while Stefano Pioli's men beat Roma last weekend and drew with Porto in midweek.

PAST ENCOUNTERS

Inter have won 67 of the previous 174 league meetings between the two sides, with AC Milan winning 52 and 55 draws.

The Rossoneri have conceded more goals (246) against Inter and lost more times (67, level with Juventus) to the Nerazzurri than against any other team in Serie A.

Inter have won five of their last six league encounters with AC Milan, scoring 14 to the Rossoneri's six in that time.

In fact, AC Milan have won just one of the last ten league derbies played: 2-1 in the sides' first meeting last season.

AC MILAN V INTER FIXTURES

Of the 87 Serie A derbies hosted by AC Milan, Inter have won 34, drawn 25 and lost 28. The Nerazzurri have won the last three encounters with AC Milan as the home side. Only once before have AC Milan lost more consecutive home derbies in Serie A – the first five, between 1929 and 1934.

The Nerazzurri didn't concede in their last two Serie A 'trips' to Milan. Only once have they recorded three back-to-back clean sheets in this fixture, midway through the 1980s.

FORM BOOK

Inter go into Sunday's game having won their last three, against Empoli and Udinese in Serie A and Sheriff Tiraspol in the Champions League. The Nerazzurri have the same points as they did after 11 matches last season: 24, from seven wins, three draws and one defeat.

Victory at the weekend would see Simone Inzaghi win three league games on the trot for the first time since taking the helm in the summer, while another clean sheet for Inter would make it three Serie A outings without conceding for the first time since February, when they managed four.

Inter (30) and AC Milan (12) are currently the two Serie A teams on the longest scoring streaks in the Italian top flight.

AC Milan have won 10 of their first 11 matches of a Serie A campaign for the first time in history. They have won their last seven league games and last five at home.

STATS

Since the start of 2020, Inter and AC Milan have exactly the same points tally in Serie A, more than any other team – 155 from 70 matches (averaging 2.2 per game).

Inzaghi's men have netted more headed goals (eight) than anyone else in Serie A this term, while only Napoli (zero) have conceded fewer headed goals than AC Milan (one).

The Nerazzurri boast the league's best attack (28), while the Rossoneri have the second best (25). Inter have also had the most different scorers (12) and Milan the second most (11).

PLAYER FOCUS

Edin Dzeko has struck five league goals against AC Milan, with four of them coming at the Meazza. Since his debut campaign in Serie A (2015/16), no one has netted more goals away to the Rossoneri than he has.

Only Mattia Destro (four) has notched more headers than Edin Dzeko (three) this season. The Bosnian's best seasons for total headed goals in Serie A were 2019/20 (six) and 2017/18 (five).

Joaquin Correa has netted four times against AC Milan in the league – making them him his preferred victim. El Tucu has scored a brace in each of the last four matches he has scored in, including a double against the Rossoneri for Lazio in April 2021.

Nicolo Barella is the player with the most assists (five) this season. He is also the Inter player involved in the most goal attempts: 42 (22 himself and 20 created for others).

Lautaro Martínez has had a hand in four goals (scored three, assisted one) in four matches against AC Milan in Serie A, including two in the last one (February 2021).

Since making his Serie A debut against AC Milan in September 2015, Ivan Perisic has supplied five assists against the Rossoneri – more than against any other opposition.

If they play at the weekend Stefan de Vrij and Alessandro Bastoni will make their 200th and 100th Serie A appearances, respectively. The Dutch centre-back made his Serie A debut against the Rossoneri – in a Lazio shirt – in August 2014

Samir Handanovic's next league game will see him tie with Gianni Rivera in 11th place for most Serie A appearances (527).
