InterNationals: four in action as Dzeko finds the net

Calhanoglu, Bastoni, Dumfries (assist) and Dzeko were all in friendly action on Tuesday night

The European countries’ fixtures in World cup qualifiers and friendlies have now come to an end during the current international break. Four Inter players were in action on Tuesday evening in friendly matches: Hakan Calhanoglu, Alessandro Bastoni, Denzel Dumfries and Edin Dzeko.

Turkey and Italy met in Konya, Turkey, fresh off the disappointment of falling in the World Cup play-off semi-finals last week. Roberto Mancini’s side ran out 3-2 winners thanks to a goal by Bryan Cristante and a brace by Giacomo Raspadori, while Cengiz Under and Serdar Dursun netted for the hosts. Two Inter players were involved, with Calhanoglu playing for 77 minutes before being withdrawn, while Bastoni came on in the 76th minute. The midfielder donned the captain’s armband and is now the team captain following the Burak Yilmaz’s international retirement.

Two heavyweights of the international met when the Netherlands faced Germany in Amsterdam, which ended 1-1 after a goal by Thomas Muller and a late equaliser by Steven Bergwijn that was set up by Dumfries, who played the full 90 minutes.

Bosnia and Herzegovina got the better of Luxembourg in Zenica when Dzeko came off the bench in the 66th minute and bagged the only goal of the game on 86 minutes.
