BRUNICO - Following this morning's training session at the sports centre in Riscone di Brunico, where Inter's summer training camp is in full swing, new arrivals Luis Jimenez and Nelson Rivas were presented to the media by transfer market consultant and first-team representative Gabriele Oriali.
"Today we present two very good and interesting youngsters," said former Inter great Oriali, who won a Scudetto, two Italian Cups and a World Cup in his long playing career. "We hope they do for Inter what we are expecting of them. The club and the coach are convinced of the choices, the boys will now have time to show their worth and make an important contribution to help the team achieve even better results than last season.
"How did we get to Rivas? We had been looking at him for a while and then we decided to buy him because of the great interest in the lad. We have had some excellent reports on him and we decided to intervene straight away."
Asked whether Rivas could be loaned out to another club if another defender, for example Cristian Chivu, joins Inter, Oriali replied: "I have also read about this possibility in the newspapers but I prefer not to talk about possibilities. You read and hear a lot of them during this period. Rivas is here and we're very pleased. He will have the chance to show his qualities.
"As for Chivu, we have been clear for a while so there's no point going back to the matter. In terms of numbers and quality Inter's defence is fine, but I have been training recently as well. You never know..."
