SAN PAOLO - Adriano gave a press conference today at the sports centre of Brazilian club San Paolo, where the Inter striker is undergoing a programme of personalised training sessions to regain peak physical condition.
He said: "Inter are giving me all the support possible, and here I have had every possible show of affection from everyone, and it's very good for me.
"They say I resorted to alcohol to get over my problems. Anyone can have a difficult time, and I'm a normal person. I hope to get though it to make my family happy again and get back to playing football, the thing I love most. I want to get my smile back."
San Paolo have expressed their desire to keep the Inter forward for their Copa Libertadores fixtures, but Adriano preferred to make no comment. "No one knows what the future holds," he said. "I'm here to work. First I have to recover, and then we will see. San Paolo are one of the most important clubs in the world. I'm very happy about this very warm welcome."
On the Brazilian national team, who play against Uruguay at the Maracana on Wednesday, Adriano added: "The Selecao already has great players, but I will give everything to get back in the national team some day."
