Daminuta, Destro, Krhin score as senior youth team beat Vicenza 3-1 to reach last eight

SAN GIULIANO TERME - Inter Primavera beat Vicenza 3-1 in their Viareggio Cup round of 16 clash to advance to the quarter-final stage of the prestigious tournament for Under-19 teams.

Midfielder Alberto Gerbo made his return after coming off injured in the tournament opener against QPR, with Vincenzo Esposito partnering Riccardo Bocalon in attack with Mattia Destro. Ex-Inter youngsters Ricci, Maaroufi and Wagner featured in Vicenza's starting lineup.

It took Inter 17 minutes to take the lead and what a goal it was, Cristian Daminuta hitting the target with a trademark long-range free kick.

Three minutes later Bocalon raced down the right and served Destro who converted for Inter's second goal - his third of the tournament.

Minesso went close on 27 minutes with a curling shot from the edge of the box - expertly saved by Belec, but he rifled past the Inter keeper from 22 yards four minutes before half time to give Vicenza a lifeline.

Rene Krhin restored Inter's two-goal cushion and sealed victory ten minutes after the restart, firing past Trepak after a cross from Gerbo.

Destro narrowly missed a fourth when he shot just over the bar, but Inter were handed an advantage when Wagner was dismissed in the 67th minute.

The Biancorossi ended the game with nine men on the pitch with De March seeing red in the closing minutes before Inter substitute Fortunato missed a scoring chance.
